Maruti has a CNG fitted Maruti SX4 variant at Rs 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG variant is loaded with i-GPI technology that is safe, reliable, clean, responsive and environment friendly. But Maruti Suzuki is also planning a diesel version of this popular sedan having a 1.6l diesel engine. The car is expected to be launched by 2011.At present the diesel version of Maruti Swift and Dzire are popular in India and the company hopes to see the same success with Maruti SX4 diesel. The diesel variant of the SX4 will be pitted against the likes of Ford Fiesta, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Fiat Linea.
