Troubleshooting Wireless Network | Wireless Router Linksys
Connecting to the wireless network for the first time? Most of you will face connectivity problems on your desktop computer, laptop, PDA or any wireless device. There are many cases for a wireless network to function improperly. Here are some most common wireless network problems and common network troubleshooting methods. Troubleshooting a wireless network is very simple, and you need to follow some simple steps. For a home / office wireless network connectivity problem, follow these simple steps.
- Recheck all the ports. The wireless routers Cable from WAN port should be perfectly connected to the Cable/DSL modem. Just check all the cables are connected tightly. If you have more port on your Router, try switching the slots. Also make sure that you followed the router manual to install the wireless Router.
- Select the wireless client icon from your computer and ensure that the wireless link is enabled. The Wireless network can be found in the Network Connections in the control panel.
- Check your systems LAN settings. Make sure that they are correct. Check whether the IP address given is proper.
- Check your systems TCP/IP protocols. Make sure that the LAN card name on top is correct. Go to the properties of LAN connection to get the TCP/IP settings. Enable the Wireless Connection from the wireless network settings if the status is showing- not connected.
- If a problem still exists, ping a website address from your command prompt. If you get a response to the ping, you may ping your router to see the response. If the router does not respond – Please re install router. The IP address for the router will be in the manual.
- Check out the security settings of the router from the manual and check for the settings from the browser by opening the router configuration page.
- Check for the routers WEP properties from the manual and follow the settings.
These are the troubleshooting methods commonly followed on the Linksys router, D link wireless Routers and Netgear wireless router. If you happen to use any other wireless router, the trouble shooting methods may change.
